Hi Bernadette!
I know it's been two years since your husband passed but I just pray you have been deeply comforted in those difficult time. I was searching for you on facebook and the news about your husband's passing came up. I wasn't sure it was you but your photo seemed to be who I think you are. Then I checked the guest book and found your sister, Glady's message so I sent this message. Send me a message and tell me how you're doing. I'm Tekla Ricasa on Facebook. God bless and take care!

I have only been recently informed by a classmate via email that Dr. Lazzara is no longer with us today. I am greatly saddened by this news and would like to express my condolences and memories with Bernadette and family. Dr. Lazzara was my mentor. I remember how dedicated, skillful, and warm and loving he was to all of his patients. He was also very welcoming, friendly, and outreaching to his mentees. He was one of the reasons why I felt osteopathic medicine was for me. I had wanted to come back to visit him to tell him that during my medical school interview, I had brought up his name many times being my inspiration to becoming an osteopathic medical doctor. Dr. Lazzara, I regret I didn't do this earlier, but I hope that you get this message from above. I want to thank you for being a wonderful, inspiring mentor to me. I, along with countless other people whose lives you have touched, will miss you greatly.

Dear Lazzara Family,
We are as shocked as everyone. We dearly loved Dr. Lazzara. I was very proud of the way he was bringing Prolotherapy to so many suffering patients. We deeply wanted to work with him on our Prolotherapy research projects. We shall miss him more than you will ever know.
May God Bless His Wonderful Soul,

Dr. Lazzara wasn't only a dedicated husband, father and physician but also a mentor to so many of the students he helped over the course of his professional life. He not only taught me how to be a good physician but how to be a friend to your patients first. His dedication to everyone around him will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace.

Aloha Mrs. Lazzara,
I was totally shocked and truly saddened to read about the loss of your husband. Dr. Lazzara was the most caring and compassionate doctor I've ever had the pleasure to meet. I remember being really scared about starting my prolotheraphy treatment and he would just make me laugh and giggle throughout the procedure. He was also very kind and thoughtful to my four kids who I sometimes had to bring with me on my appointments. On my initial appointment with Dr. Lazzara, he offered my daughter Oreo cookies and water so she would sit quietly. He would also talk about you and your children and I could tell he was so very proud of all of you. Your husband was so full of life and had such a wonderful spirit to him. We will all miss him very much. Dr. Lazzara was "No kai oi"...the BEST! You and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers. Much Love and Aloha, Gail

Dear Family, I just can't believe it. I first met Marc a couple of years ago and called him from Arizona late at night and we spoke like we were life long friends. He was such an open and caring person. Bernadette and Marc made me feel very welcome in the office and all the problems with my knee have been cured with the prolotherapy. My prayers and sympathy go out to you and your family. He is unreplaceable.

Marc and Bernadette,
I just received your letter, Bernadette. Only four short years ago, I walked into your office grimacing in pain, unable to sit or lie down. I could only stand. I suffered from exhaustion from trying to work, eat, and sleep standing up for over a month before I was referred to you for Prolotherapy.
Dr. Lazzara, you saved me. I spent a few months trekking to your Irvine office, getting to know both of you as time passed. While pricking me with needles, the doctor told me about meeting you, Bernadette, raising a family, and working on the football field. He got to know my family a little bit, too. He talked with my daughter about her collegiate life.
Marc, you gave me my life back. I have been able to swim and play with my nephew and nieces; walk with the dogs around the neighborhood; see my daughter through to finishing her undergraduate and law degrees; and made a career change from classroom teacher to librarian.
It is never far from my thoughts that my life itself is an insignificant event. My daily plan is to be a significant and positive influence in the lives of others each day.
My heart aches for the suffering your family is enduring at the moment. Dr. Lazzara was a significant and positive influence in many lives each day that he lived. I stand, I sit, I lie down, and I live in comfort because he influenced my life in a significant and positive way.

Bernadette and Lazzara Family,
I was very shocked and sad to find out that Marc had passed away. Marc had a way of making me feel at ease when I received treatment for a few sports injuries. He was a special person who's kindness had touched many peoples lives. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Lazzara family. Marc will be missed by many people.

Bernadette and family,
I was shocked to receive your letter today. The entire Lazzara family have been a part of our lives. I followed Marc from Chino, with Ali, when she was just a little girl. We were so honored to meet you, and to hear fond stories about your children with each visit to Irvine. I will never forget the kindness, compassion, and encouragement, and that you and Marc always provided for Ali and I during some of the darkest days of my life. My heart goes out to you and the children, you will remain in my prayers. Of all the things I remember about your office in Irvine, it will be the love and laughter that was always shared between you and Marc. We will never forget Marc, or your family.
Love,
Luz(Ramirez)Conner, and Ali

Bernadette,
Your loss took me by complete and utter surprise. I spent 4 weeks with you and Mark as a third year medical student this last December-January. I feel blessed that I had this short time with him. It was not only a fantastic learning experience in medicine, but he taught my how to be a better person and future physician. I know I speak for many when I say that he will continue to be remembered, loved, and will continue to live through spirit through the fortunate few that he allowed to share himself with.
His wit, charm, and character I only hope to partially possess one day. Please except my condolence for you and your family's' monumental loss.

Dearest Bernadette -
When I got the letter about Marc's passing I was stunned and deeply saddened. Like some others who have signed this memorial, I first met him when he was practicing in Chino. Using Prolotherapy, he fixed up my elbow. A few years later, when I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis and could barely walk, I caught up with him in Irvine. Again, his skillful hands came to the rescue. It is no exaggeration at all to say that he gave me back my life. He was an amazing human being and a healer that combined the best of art and science. Clearly, he touched many lives, as a doctor, coach, friend, father and husband. He will live on through all those lives that he impacted.
I send my deepest sympathy to you and the kids.

Dear Lazzara family,
I feel as though I have lost a wonderful friend, and heaven has gained another loving soul. I had the pleasure of meeting Marc through coaching his son Kurt in basketball. The highlight of the season was when kurt received the sportsmanship award through NJB. Little did I know, few years later, that my health would take a turn fot the worse.
Several years into chronic back pain, I found Marc and he felt he could help me. His skillfull hands healed me and changed my life. He completely rid me of my back pain. He gave of himself and his time to make my life enjoyable, not only for me, but for my wife and kids. I am forever grateful to the entire Lazzara family. I miss Marc tremendously, but look forward to seeing him again in our heavenly home.

I was saddened to read about Dr. Lazarra's passing. He had a joy and love of life. Every time I went in for a treatment he would have a joke or story to tell. We often touched on our families. He was very proud of his children.
I am glad I knew him. Marc will be missed.

Bernadette,
I was so saddened when I received your letter about losing your husband and our friend.
I came to Marc when he was practicing in Chino and followed him to Irvine, when he didn't want to commute any more. I always accused him of treating me like a human pin cushion as we spoke of politics, golf, basketball or you and the kids. I've never seen a dad more proud of his children's accomplishments as he spoke with a twinkle in his eye as we bantered back and forth during treatment. Marc was able to diagnose my condition to one that he said he only sees with professional baseball pitchers, and as an old broad that only plays golf, thought that no one could figure out what was wrong with me, but Marc was persistent. I know of no doctor that would call me while he was out-of-state at a conference, or call on a weekend, to check on how I was doing. Marc Lazzara was one-of-a-kind. As a mentor, I hope his spirit lives in other doctors and they follow his example of knowledge, care, and kindness.
I hope his spirit lives on in the Lazzara household, where Marc thrived on the love of his family and sharing himself with others. This man touched and improved so many people's lives that his spirit will always carry on from those that loved and respected him. God bless you Bernadette, as well as your son and daughter. I know you miss your husband and father tremendously, but please remember, he loved all of you... each passing day, each passing moment and I'm sure; you'll keep him in your hearts forever.
Respectfully,
|

When Marc left this world
An Indian prayer:
He comes to the wind.
Then the wind makes room for him,
like the hole of a carriage wheel,
and through it he mounts higher.
He comes to the sun.
Then the sun makes room for him,
like the hole of a Lambara,
and through it he mounts higher.
He comes to the moon.
Then the moon makes room for him,
like the hole of a drum,
and through it he mounts higher.
And arrives at the world where there is no sorrow, no snow.
There he dwells eternal years.
I miss you Marc, and thank you deeply for your help, comfort, and humor.
God Bless the Lazzara family. I was shocked and so saddened to receive your letter. My prayers are with you.
Sincerely,
Heather Clancy

I just received your letter about Marc and am very saddened by the news. He did have a way of helping you be strong when he was practicing his medicine and inflicting extreme pain upon you. But I told everyone I thought could benefit from prolotherapy that it really worked for me! In fact I, most respectfully of course, referred to him as my voodoo doctor. His expertise and humor will indeed be missed. You're in my prayers.

I just saw through the COMP newsletter that Marc had passed. I was in the COMP class of '97 with him. I remember him as such a nice, funny, guy... so kind and genuine. I wanted to send his family sincere condolences. What a great guy he was.
